The Perfect Golfing Holiday

Do you enjoy playing golf? It is becoming more and more popular with every day. Boasting some of the world`s most prestigious and challenging Links golf courses, the south west of Ireland is a must for any golfing enthusiasts. Irish golf holidays are growing in popularity due to the fact that visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to picking courses to play during their stay.
There are a number of championship courses along the south west coast whom have played host to The Irish Open, The Palmer Cup and various Pro-am’s throughout the years. Some of the biggest names in the sport frequently visit these shores to play on courses such as Ballybunion, Old head, Lahinch and many more.

Lahinch Golf Club:
Founded in 1892, the old course at Lahinch is an extremely enjoyable course to play no matter what time of year. Just like any Links course, the elements come into play on every hole so the style of game changes constantly.
Two of the holes on this course (4th & 5th) remain virtually untouched or altered since their creation 121 years ago.
If you plan on checking out the cliffs of Moher while in Ireland, Lahinch is the perfect place to stay, as they are only a 15-minute drive away.

Ballybunion Golf Club:
Further down the coast in Co.Kerry is the home to what is probably the most famous golf club in the southwest, Ballybunion golf club. With two excellent courses to choose from, it is highly recommended that visitors try their hand on the old course.
Some of the biggest names in the game have played here over the years with the inclusion of Bill Clinton back in 98’. During high season visitors should be sure to book in advance as tee times are limited and cost approx €180 for a round on the old course and €65 for the Cashen course. There are special offers for visitors who wish to play both courses, which no doubt you will once you set eyes on the breathtaking Ballybunion coastline.

Old Head Golf Club:
These picturesque 18 holes of golf have been described as “the most spectacular course on earth. With the Ocean claiming as many strokes as the challenging greens, the views on this course are breathtaking. Cliffs come into play more than some might prefer but try to enjoy the views of the fierce ocean crashing against the weathered coastline when taking a drop. Founded in 1997, this is a more modern course than the two mentioned above, but where it lacks in age, it prospers in beauty.
If parkland golf is more what you imagined, then you can find that as well. The midlands in Ireland play host to a number of Manor estates and castle grounds, which over the last 20 years have expanded to brilliant golfing locations.
To mention a few of the more prestigious parkland courses available, no list can exclude Adare Manor. Located in Co.Limerick, this picture perfect estate was the location for the 2010 JP McManus pro-am, which included participants such as Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk.

Either way, if you visit Ireland looking for a golf vacations or just to get some experience, you will get just that. Choose wisely on the time of year to visit though as winters can be extreme, especially on the Atlantic coast. Best times to visit would be between April – September. Enjoy and happy golfing!

Give Your Friends A Wedding Gift They'll Never Forget

Wedding Gift

When your friend gets married, it’s time to celebrate. It’s also a time to show them just how much you care. Through the showers and reception, you will be required to give your friend a gift. Most of the time, people provide the new bride and groom with items they’ll need for their home, such as appliances, towels and other household essentials.

Instead of giving your friends something practical for their wedding, give them a wedding gift they’ll never forget. The following are six unique wedding gift ideas for your friends.

1. Pay for a part of the wedding.

Instead of giving your friend a set of mixing bowls, why not put that money towards part of their wedding? Depending on your budget, you could opt to pay for the bride’s hair and makeup the day of the wedding or cover the cost of the DJ, flowers or even their honeymoon. Your friend will certainly be floored by your generosity, and your gift will certainly be something that’s remembered by the couple for the rest of their lives.

2. Give the couple a night on the town.

You can make your gift stand out from all the others by giving your friends something they could actually use. Weddings can be extremely stressful, so why not give the couple a night on the town so they can relax. Give them gift cards to a nice restaurant, a movie theater or even a day spa, and let them use the gift to relax after their wedding.

3. Give the gift of sports.

If your friends are sports fanatics, make their wedding gift sports-related. You could give them tickets to their favorite sports team, or you can buy a variety of sports-themed décor they can use in their new home. They’ll certainly appreciate a sports-themed gift over some generic kitchen appliance.

4. Give them something personalized.

The night of the wedding will be the first time the bride and groom share the same last name, so why not get them something personalized? There are plenty of personalized signs or picture frames you could buy that the bride and groom would love to have. You can even buy personalized wine glasses too. Just make sure that you buy something the bride and groom would be likely to use, as this makes it even more special.

5. Make a quilt.

At your friend’s wedding shower, pass out pieces of fabric and ask the guests to write a nice message to the bride and groom. Collect all the fabric and then sew the pieces together into a quilt. Give this to the bride and groom on the day of their wedding as a gift. Not only is this something personal, but it’s also something useful that they’ll be able to enjoy forever. Plus, every time they use it, they’ll be reminded of their wedding day and the thoughtful friend who made it.

6. Create a scrapbook.

Make sure that you take pictures of your friend’s wedding, including the shower, bachelor/bachelorette party, engagement party, etc., and create a scrapbook to give to your friends as a present.

To make the scrapbook even more special, you should use a voice recorder app to record well wishes from the wedding guests. You can then transcribe the audio files to text and place the transcriptions in the scrapbook as well. Now, the couple will have both pictures to enjoy and well wishes from their friends and family.

All you need to know about buying your first second-hand static caravan

If you've never bought a second-hand static caravan before then the process may seem like confusing, but there are some steps you can take to make the decision less daunting and increasing the possibility that you’ll find the static caravan of your dreams. By listing the benefits of owning a static second-hand caravan as well as providing maintenance tips, this article will help novices learn the ropes of purchasing and owning their own holiday home.

The benefits of owning a second-hand static caravan
1.       Lower price-tag
You’d be surprised at the range of high quality second hand caravans on offer which offer buyers a chance to own a caravan of their own without breaking the budget. If you’re looking for buying the latest model therefore considering a second-hand purchase instead is a great way to save money which can be spent elsewhere.
2.       In demand
Thanks to an increase in ‘staycations’ among-st British residents used caravans are frequently in high demand thanks to the opportunities they offer families who are not able to affordable an expensive holiday abroad but would still like to provide their loved ones with a memorable time away.
3.       Can be used for last minute holidays
Perhaps the most obvious benefit of owning your own holiday home is that it’s always an alternative, cost effective location to reside in whenever holiday season rolls around. This is perfect for affordable, last minute caravan holidays in a tried and tested location.
What will significantly benefit your experience of holidaying in a static caravan will be its location, as whilst some static caravans are available at cheaper prices this often reflects their isolated location. This is a major point of concern for those who want local amenities and services on their doorstep without driving too far, so make sure you check out the local area of a caravan park before you make a payment to ensure that it has a wide range of facilities such as a supermarket or doctors which you can benefit from during your stay. This can be done by visiting the park’s website, but also by checking reviews on independent websites to ensure you get the best opinions before you make a purchase.

Tips for maintaining your caravan

Whilst their main function is for relaxing, your static caravan will require regular maintenance in the same way a house would. This is why it’s advised that the following maintenance checks are performed regularly to ensure that your caravan is kept in its optimum condition, preventing its owners from paying costly repair fees to fix problems which could have been avoided.

1.       Gas Maintenance
Most static caravans possess a gas boiler which provides their central heating system.  To prevent it packing up therefore owners will have to ensure it is regularly checked for faults and continues to function properly. Even the slightest problem puts your caravan at risk, releasing carbon monoxide which could kill any residents who reside in the home, so it’s important that you get any faults checked out by an engineer as soon as possible.

2.       Exterior maintenance
Exterior maintenance holds great value for every static caravan owner because it’s indicative of the quality of its interior. A shabby appearance will also make a caravan stick out like a sore thumb among st other caravans which have been neatly presented, so it’s advised that its exterior is washed thoroughly, providing a blank canvas for a lick of paint to boost its appearance whilst also making it easier to spot scratches or patches which need to be fixed.

3.       Guttering
Another area of a caravan that requires regular upkeep is the gutters.  In order for your gutters to keep passing water smoothly, it’s important to regularly check and remove any leaves and debris that can block the gutters and which could make the water stand in your caravan to ensure you don’t have to pay additional fees for a professional to unclog the pipes if they've become neglected.

4.       Anchoring
It is a common perception that both new and second hand static caravans are quite heavy for the wind to move them. However, high winds of the autumn and winter can definitely affect the positioning of a static caravan, which is why the anchoring should be checked on a regular basis. You can also ensure your caravan stays put during windy weather with chains, attaching them to the base to stabilize the caravan and of which you can acquire from most caravan accessory retailers.
By taking care of all the aspects mentioned above, not only will this maintain the caravan and ensure it is kept in its best condition, but it will also significantly affect its value if you decide to re-sell.

Risks to A Relationship During and After the Holidays

Relationship
Source: Pininterest
One of the bigger ironies of the Holidays is that many a couple often have problems with their intimate relationships during this particularly festive season. Some of these conflicts are bad enough that they can result in a breakup, or for the married pairs, divorce.

We have to realize that Holidays are emotionally charged (there is hardly any cold logic that can justify having them, wouldn’t you think?), and the polarity of which can turn from positive to negative even with the most minor of emotional catalysts.

Let us enumerate some of the Holiday situations and predicaments that can potentially ruin a good relationship:

Old Flames Rekindling

For starters, there is always the possibility of third party involvement that could spoil the Holidays for you and your partner. In this season, most of us are prone to looking back on our lives and remembering the happier times, and along with that comes the memories of people that we have shared those memorably happy moments with.

Though we might all agree that the past is over (bonus points if you can name the US President whose quote that statement was derived from), old relationships will always have a lingering remnant of it within the people involved, and in some cases, that little ember could produce a spark that could revive old feelings. This is something you want to avoid, especially if you and your partner are heavily and mutually invested in your relationship. The best way for you and your partner not to get caught in the trap of reliving past flames is to avoid proximity with past partners altogether. Granted, a polite greeting and a few words of well-wishing between old flames is only natural, but you should never set the stage for something more intimate to transpire.

An Overly Busy Schedule

The Holidays are rife with parties, get-togethers, reunions, concerts, and other hectic events that might take too much of your time, which in turn could starve your relationship and expose it to the risk of waning away.

While it isn’t healthy to spend all of the Holidays with just each other, make arrangements beforehand to have quality, one-on-one time with your partner amidst all the fanfare and festivities. This is a special time of the year, and who else would you want to spend it with than the love of your life?

Materialistic Distractions

If you have watched or even participated in the Holiday-themed shopping events like Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas/New Year’s Sales, you know as much as the rest of us that the rush to acquire and consume supposedly lucrative products on sale is a massive distraction, and it is seriously encroaching on the very reason for the season.

Discount shopping can be very fun, especially if you and your partner are a regular Bonnie and Clyde (well, not literally) on the mall grounds. Regardless, do not forget the true meanings of the Holidays, and if you are made to choose between scoring a majorly discounted trinket/gadget or have some cuddling time with your beloved, you should be able to decide to be with your partner, in a heartbeat.
Have a love-filled and peaceful Holiday and post-holiday season, everyone!
