How to deal with Smartphone addiction? People May be Addicted to Anything

Addiction has a very bad name, especially in the USA where even experts are confined by a very narrow definition of addiction. It is often attributed to a lack of self discipline, irresponsibility, reckless abandon, pleasure seeking or an addictive personality. This article will help you deal with your Smartphone addiction in a productive way.

There are very few Americans that are as learned about addiction as Lance M. Dodes, M.D. He understands that addiction is often due to complex psychological factors that traditional abstinence/ 12-step programs are not treating. His theories are often rejected by the American publishers as they have a very narrow definition of addiction and it is often allied with morality. In the UK and Europe his ideas are widely accepted. If you feel you truly do have a problem with addiction, then nip to a library or bookstore and buy his book to help you understand that your addiction does not make you a bad person, nor do you have to give up something in order to quit it (you have a choice).

Modern theory and the idea of Smartphone addiction

Addiction is due to complex psychological factors and that is why so many people quit one addiction and move on to another if they are forced to stop. This may not be so bad for damaging addictions such as drug addiction, but in other circumstances it is unfair.

As Lance Dodes would agree, controlling addiction is about giving yourself back the power to make your own choices to the point where even discipline is not needed. It means that a former alcoholic may choose to have a drink at a party without reigniting an old lust for more, more, more. Find the reason behind your addiction and you disarm your addiction of its power.

People may be addicted to anything

This is bitterly true and yet is ignored by people claiming that chemical addiction is what addiction is all about. They discount the fact that some people quit things such as smoking one day and never feel the urge ever again. There are also people who forget that gambling and sex addiction are not chemical based. Even the endorphins they give off are not addictive otherwise people would get high just having a laugh.

Do a little research and you will see cases of how people have become addicted to everything from scratching their feet with matchbox sandpaper, to the lady who died thanks to her addiction to water (true story).

Look back at when your addiction started

This is a good way of pinpointing what started your addiction in the first place. It could have been when you bought a new game, when you first started getting texts from a lover, or from the first time your phone let you down. We all get a bit of a kick when the person we are involved with sends us a text, but have you become a junkie on that kick?

Ask yourself if you could remove an element of your phone and still be addicted. If your SMS feature was taken away, then would you use your phone as much? If it did not play games then would you use your phone as much? Have you considered that the function is what you are addicted to and not the phone itself?

Are there thing that trigger your addiction?

This is a tricky one to determine because it is slippery. When a smoker finishes eating a meal then that smoker often wants a cigarette. This leads people to believe that eating is a trigger, but people who eat less will often smoke more. Added to which, it is often a case of them being mildly bored after eating a meal, rather than them wanting to smoke after a meal. Added again is the fact that after a while the act of smoking after a meal becomes its own self contained habit.

If you keep in mind that there are a lot of factors at play then you may take a cold look at what is triggering your addiction. Do you find yourself checking your phone more when you or your partner have been having relationship trouble? Do you find yourself playing games on your phone when the TV or radio is off? Do you find yourself feeling uncomfortable in the silence and feel that you have to do something? Is that when your phone comes into play?

Has your phone become a comfort tool?

When we as animals feel a mildly or deeply negative emotion, we often require some sort of comfort. This sort of thing is very evident in body language. For example, look at the youngest prince in Britain. If you watch him on video when he is up in front of a crowd he will hold his hands behind his back.

You will see how one hand clasps the other almost as if he is holding his own hand. You may see people who tightly fold their arms when they feel threatened; they are actually comforting themselves with a hug. Police officers will often put their hands on their hips when they feel threatened, which is actually due to the fact their gun is close by (offering comfort).

Ask yourself if your phone has become your comfort tool, and if it has then ask yourself why you feel the need for comfort. The highway copper needs his/her comfort feeling because the job may be dangerous, Young prince Harry needs his because he has to face massive crowds. Figure out what is pushing you to need comfort. If you can figure it out then you can deal with your discomfort feelings directly and need not rely on your phone for psychological comfort.

7 Amazing Apps To Help Plan Your Wedding - Apple Couple| WedPics and More!

Weddings ceremonies are steeped in tradition that dates back thousands of years. That said, even they aren't immune to modern technological influences. If you're planning to tie the knot, learn about seven cool apps that can help you plan your wedding.

Appy Couple

Iphone
Source: cc-by-3.0, Wikimedia
Just about as interactive and detailed as the best wedding consultant, this app allows guests to view and download an array of information and news about your wedding, including the engagement, ceremony, honeymoon and more. Upload pictures, event details maps and messages. You can also make travel arrangements, share virtual champagne toasts, e-meet the bridal party, create customized polls and much, much more.

Wedding Dress Look Book

Exclusive to iPhone, this app from The Knot allows brides to search and view hundreds of wedding dress photos. It also provides detailed listings of local salons that carry each one. Search by shape, style or price.

Weddings Song Planner: Professional

Save yourself from hours of research with this awesome app. Created by a professional wedding DJ, Weddings Song Planner: Professional provides 1,000 song suggestions you can preview on YouTube. Share songs with friends or add them to your personal list of favorites. There are all sorts of categories to choose from, including: garter toss, bouquet toss, mother/son, father/daughter, cake cutting, first dance, grand entrance, processional prelude and more.

Carmindy

Looking to save some money by skipping the professional makeup artist? The Carmindy app is a handy tool that can show you plenty of different ways to do your makeup.

WedPics

This cool, convenient app takes guest photo taking to a new level. Remember when grooms and brides deposited disposable cameras on tables and asked family and friends to snap a few candids? Thanks to the WedPics App, this is an antiquated notion. Now, guests can use their smartphones to take photos and instantly upload them to a couple's personalized album in the cloud. Not only does this app allow guests to quickly capture photos, it lets couples easily convert digital albums into actual prints. Profiled by the BBC, The New York Times and ABC news, WedPics has also gained attention from professionals who think it offers nice - if limited - benefits.

"Photo apps are good for weddings, because they give guests the chance to take and share lots of candid shots," said Arnaud Brichet, a Punta Cana wedding photographer who owns hdcphoto.com. "With that being said, they should be used as a supplemental part of a greater wedding photography plan. To capture the unique essence of your ceremony, you'll want an experienced, knowledgeable professional who has the knowhow and tools required to take flawless, professional photos.

Projects

Every busy bride and groom needs a way to stay organized. This handy app can help you keep your sanity, as you try to schedule fittings, meetings with vendors and personal DIY projects.

Tie Right

Great for groomsmen, this app clearly shows users how to tie the six most popular necktie knots: the Pratt knot, the half Windsor knot, the small knot, the Windsor knot, the four in hand knot and the bow-tie. Demonstrations are provided from two different views, so users can get a clear vision of each step.

Swarovski Mobile Phone Cases Make A Real Statement - They Show Off Your Style

It probably goes without saying that a mobile phone case can say a lot about a person. You can now purchase mobile phone cases that speak volumes about your sense of style and can instantly tell someone what kind of person you are. From furry cases to cases with celebrity images, there really is a case for everyone. Swarovski mobile phone cases make a particularly bold statement and can really make your phone stand out. Here are some reasons why Swarovski phone cases are unique.

They show off your style

You can really make a statement with your clothing, shoes and accessories, but what about your phone case? You use your phone every day so it is almost an extension of you and your personality. By adding Swarovski crystals to your phone case, you can show off your sense of style no matter what you are wearing. So, if there comes a time when you have to break out the jogging bottoms and plain white vest, you can still pull out your phone and show everyone what you look like when you put on a glamorous outfit.

They show you make an effort

Many people are hard at work for most of the week, meaning that their style may suffer in favour of comfort when it comes to the weekends. However, there is no reason why you can’t express yourself using your phone case. As you will be using your phone for work and play, why not make an effort and add some Swarovski crystals to your phone case? You can express yourself by choosing the design you want, whether you like vintage jewels or sparkly bright coloured Swarovski crystals. Even if you don’t have the time to concentrate on your style, people will know you make an effort every time you pull out your phone!

You can design them to fit your tastes

You don’t have to have your entire phone case covered in crystals if this doesn’t suit your style. In fact, you can choose any design you like and as many Swarovski crystals as you want! Those who love a bit of sparkle can choose to cover their cases in crystals and really make their phone stand out. However, those who prefer vintage, traditional styles can choose to have a few crystals strategically placed on top of a case which is more suited to their look. You can have entire patterns of flowers and shapes made from Swarovski crystals so have a look through your wardrobe for inspiration.

Swarovski crystal phone cases are available to fit almost every make and model of mobile phone including the latest releases from companies such as Apple, HTC, Samsung and Nokia.

If you are normally rather reserved in your style, why not add a little bling to your phone case as a little experiment? Swarovski crystals add a little glamour to your look and you don’t have to cover yourself in them to show people your fun side, just add some to your phone case!

Must Have Apps for 2014 | Mailbox | Dolphine Broswer | Pocket | Waze | Mint

Unless you already know which app, or at least what kind of an app you need, browsing the app store for any of the major platforms can easily be frustrating, simply due to the overwhelming number of potentially interesting or useful apps, that you just don`t have the time to check out. That`s why we decided to make a list of apps that stand out in their particular categories, and that just about anyone could benefit from having.

Mailbox

A great, free app for iOS, Mailbox gives you a ton of control over how your emails are arranged. Apart from allowing you to sort them any way you like, which allows you to always have your most important emails at hand, you can also easily set up reminders for when you want to reply to a particular email, which is a more than welcome feature, that is not exactly all too common in apps of this type.

Dolphine Browser HD

While the default Android`s browser is by no means substandard, and does have some nice features of its own, Dolphin is simply more flexible, and probably closer to what most people need in a mobile browser. For one, you can create tabs, which has become a must have feature for most users, but it also allows you to use a number of handy plugins, sync with Google bookmarks and set up custom gestures. The app is completely free, so you should at least try it out.

An amazing app for people who are constantly missing out on good reads because they can`t remember where they`ve seen the article that seemed interesting. You often stumble upon great articles while you are browsing the web, but can`t always afford the time to read them immediately. You can easily save those articles for later with Pocket, and then read them at a more convenient time. The app is well integrated with different social networks, and works on all major platforms, including iOS, Android and Windows, which is to say that you can easily save the articles on your phone and then read them comfortably on the larger screen of your PC. Pocket is completely free.

Waze

One of the most transparent ways to illustrate just how useful this navigation app is would be to mention that Google decided to buy it for an amazing $1.3 billion, despite having their incredibly successful Google Maps. Basically, the app tries to provide you with the shortest route from one point to another, but it doesn't rely only on traffic reports and other conventional means for calculating the route. Instead, Waze rewards its users for any relevant information they provide regarding the current state of the roads, traffic, any possible accidents or other causes of congestion. Once you make enough reports, you can level up, which makes the app much more fun to use, and encourages users to provide as much information as they can.

Mint

This is a light weight finance management app that won`t let you make transactions or anything of the kind, but will give you a nice overview of your expenditures and profits for the current month. Naturally, since this information is what most people would consider highly sensitive, it comes with password protection that will keep prying eyes away from your data. The app is completely free, as well as very intuitive and easy to use.

Graphic Design Tips for Mobiles | Graphic Designing Career

The role of graphic designers entails designing solutions with a high visual impact. Graphic design jobs demand a flair for creativity, a professional approach to deadlines and costs, and an up-to-date awareness of industry software. The work not only involves designing for the web. The focus is gradually moving on to designing effective and attractive graphics for digital devices like smartphones. And since graphics on phones are different that on desktop devices, graphic designers must address the challenges of working with mobile technology.

The following are six important ways to help make your graphics perform well on mobile phones.

1. Always Design the Graphics for Multiple Resolutions

When you are designing graphics for phones, take note that their screens are much smaller than the huge desktop monitors you have been designing on and for. The large monitors display graphics at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and above. Mobile devices are a different ballgame altogether. You will also have to realize that different mobile sets will have different sizes and resolution. You can’t design for just a single resolution and size. You will now need to design multiple graphics to demonstrate how they will appear on various devices.

2. Make Use of a Fluid Format

Smartphones usually consist of G-sensor. The G-sensor recognizes how a mobile is oriented and accordingly displays the data correctly, which means that the images and other graphics will be presented in landscape or portrait setting based on how the user holds his phone. Keeping this in mind, a graphic designer must apply a fluid layout for the designs on phones. To use background images in an app, you should tile or stretch them. Also, you should create both landscape and portrait layouts so that your graphics will fit both orientations of the screen.

3. Keep the Size of the Files Small

Designing for mobiles doesn’t necessarily mean designing apps, it also entails designing websites for mobiles. While doing so, you will need to pay more attention to the internet connection of the user. Try to optimize images for a quicker load time as not all users will have 4G speed. In certain locations, coverage remains and issue and then there are those who may not have unlimited data plans. So keep such users in mind and reduce the code to take away unwanted tags and comments. Images and files must be compressed to reduce time for download. If you wish to design an app that will be downloaded using the data plan (and not Wi-Fi,) keep the size less than 50 MB.

4. PNG Format Should be Used for Images

The format of images will make or break your design so choose wisely. The correct format will take you a long way if you wish to design usable graphics for smartphones. Use .png as your format rather than using .gif as it will give you more depth in color. It is also lossless with variable transparency. The .gif format will either have opaque pixels or will be fully transparent. The .png format will have up to 254 levels of partially transparent pixels, allowing you to benefit from alpha transparency.

5. Optimize the Colors

Smartphones tend to differ when it comes to color support, so make your graphics accordingly adaptable. Handsets like HTC and Blackberry support 65,000 different colors. But iPhone and smartphones by Nokia support up to 16 million colors! This implies that these mobiles will show better graphics with brighter and sharper images.

6. Proceed with Relative Pixel Sizes

While designing for small screens, do not define dimensions in absolute pixels. If you set the width to 200 pixels, it can take up a majority of screen space on some phones. Thus, it is wiser to opt for relative sizes. Use ems and percentages to ensure that the size adjusts to fit all screens.

For graphic designers, moving beyond the web and designing a mobile app is a great way to boost their graphic designing career and open a plethora of avenues. Professionals who seek to prosper in this industry must remain acquainted with the latest innovations and practices of designing and development.

How Should You Insure An IPhone?

When Steve Jobs established Apple, could he have known how much he would revolutionise the computer world? Suddenly, not only were computers functional, but also icons of design. The appeal of apple grew and grew, as it become synonymous with ease of use and the ultimate in cool. By the time the iPhone was unveiled in 2007, it shook the mobile phone industry with its unique combination of form and functionality. Today, the iPhone remains as iconic as the day it first came out, and despite companies such as Samsung briefly stealing Apple’s thunder with the Galaxy S4, iPhone sales are still growing. *

However, such is the appeal (not to mention the expense) of the iPhone, that these little babies are also the most likely to be stolen. Moreover, a recent survey revealed that most phones have a life of only around 15 months before being lost or broken. With the iPhone 5S currently retailing for around £550, then you need to make sure you’re not caught out.

Protecting your iPhone

Mobile phone insurance policies vary enormously, from the excess fee charged, to what they will cover you for. So before researching insurers, be clear about what it is that you need.
  • Are you prone to losing or breaking your phone?
  • Have you had your iPhone for long? Some insurance policies will only cover new phones.
  • Are you over 18?
  • Do you have over 4 months to go on your contract? If not, you would be better off waiting until you upgrade.
Your answers should help you identify what type of policy you need. For example, if you’re prone to breaking phones, then you’ll want an iPhone policy that replaces or fixes your phone with the minimum of fuss or expense.

To decide if your iPhone policy is suitable for your purposes, always ask the following:
  • What is the excess fee? (The amount you will have to pay yourself towards a replacement or repair)
  • Does the insurer replace the phone with the same model as the one you have?
  • Do they offer you cash pay out’s to buy a new phone yourself?
  • What is the overall cost of the iPhone insurance?
  • Does the policy cover you for loss and theft, or just damage?
Check Existing Insurance

Before buying new insurance, check that your iPhone is not already covered by your home contents insurance or Bank Account Package Deal.

Find a Suitable Insurer

An online search for iPhone insurance will bring up suitable companies, but always refer back to your checklist to make sure the policy is right for you.

Insuring your Phone through Apple

It is possible to insure iPhones in the UK through Apple Care +. This provides for the repair or replacement of your iPhone for up to two incidents of accidental damage. However, it does not cover you for loss or theft, and it must be taken out within 30 days of purchasing the phone.

How Is Your Smartphone Made? | Manufacturing Process | Software Development

Mobile Phones
Source: Irita Kirsbluma, cc-by-3.0, flickr

The modern smartphone has quickly become one of the most popular devices of our time. With many different brands and styles, the smartphone market is competitive and has a quick turnover with manufacturers and designers constantly looking for ways to make improvements to their models. Despite having become something that many of us depend on in our daily lives as a source of contact and a way to find information, few of us ever consider how smartphones are made. Although a complex process, here is an overview of how a smartphone is developed and made.

Software Development

The software of any smartphone is constantly being developed. Companies like Apple and Android are constantly competing to create the most advanced smartphone technology, so will always be looking for ways to develop innovative software updates to make their product leap ahead of the competition.
The rate at which software is being developed is incredible, with many existing smartphone owners finding that their devices often need updating to the most current software. Despite many smartphones often having regular device updates, this doesn’t mean that customers will constantly be needing to replace and update the models of the phones that they own, but simply download updates and any new software that is developed and released.

Those who develop software for a smartphone will want to make their device easy to use and for it to contain pre-installed popular and useful apps as well has allow for additional ones to be purchased and downloaded.

Design

The design of a smartphone is important for a number of reasons. With many consumers being interested in aesthetic qualities, smartphone companies need to create a product that has a combination of physical practical and stylish design features. A smartphone needs to be easy to hold and have a screen that is of an appropriate size for use. As smartphones usually have minimal buttons, placements of these need to be well thought out, and those who are designing the phones will carefully consider how it is likely to held and used by the majority of its target audience.

A smartphone will need to be similar yet different to the design of its competitors so as to entice consumers to purchase and use it. Recently, smartphones are being offered in an array of colours, with Apple introducing its iPhone 5s in black, gold, and white, and its iPhone c in a range of bright, vibrant colours and Nokia’s Lumia also offering a variety of clip on colourful backs.

Manufacturing Process

Parts manufacture of a smartphone requires precision and accuracy. Due to the need for a precise part to be created, most smartphones are manufactured using a computer numerical control engineering process. CNC engineering allows for parts to be bored from a solid piece of material meaning that they are not only precise, but also have more strength and durability than parts that are melded.

By having a smartphone that is manufactured using CNC drilling or boring, companies can create a product that is strong enough to resist certain levels of damage, and will last for a long period of time. Quality is of high importance to many smartphone companies as many wish to market their product as a high tech, luxury good, that offers much more than just a practical use.

Beth Sutbbings thinks that a smartphone is an amazing piece of technology. She would recommend Griffiths Engineering to businesses who are looking to have parts manufactured using CNC engineering.

Safety of Your Kids
Source: cc-by-3.0, morguefile

There is nothing more rewarding than being a parent and you need to be ready for the huge responsibility that comes along with it. Thinking how you can mold and prepare your children to face this world on their own can be scary, so you will need all the resources you can lay your hands on to help you ensure their safety and security. Fortunately, you have technology to help you out.

Mobile handsets and specially designed mobile apps can be used to help keep kids safe, communicate with them and more. Chances are that your children own mobile phones or similar devices, so aside from being a cool parent, you can also keep tabs on them for their own protection.

The MamaBear App

It is important to continue keeping tabs on your kids as they start to participate in more activities and meet new people. The MamaBear app allows you to keep an eye on your children without having to call or text. All kids have to do is check in a location and communicate with a press of a button, while you keep tabs on their activity.

The Family GPS Tracker App

Your children might already be riding their bikes to and from school or commute by bus. Sadly, this can make it easy for them to wander into unfamiliar places and get lost. However, the Family GPS Tracker can help parents set boundaries and receive notifications whenever kids wander too far. The app also features communication tools so you can help your kids find their way should they get lost.

The FBI Child ID App

No parent will want to think about the possibility of their child going missing, but considering how dangerous our world can be at times, it is best to be prepared. The FBI Child ID app allows you to store photos and crucial information about your children along with tips on how to keep them safe. Resources are also made available to you via this app.

The Sex Offenders Search App

Whether you like or not, there are dangerous people in the world, such as sex offenders. This app can help ensure that your children are protected from any potential predators. A map of the surroundings can be checked using the Sex Offenders Search app for any registered sex offenders and you can warn your children to never stray around such places to prevent them from having to interact with such people. Learn more on what you can do if a predator contacts any of your children.

The Life360 App

If you spend long hours at the office each day, you will want to be able to locate your children to put your mind at peace. The Life360 app allows you to communicate with one another, sharing locations and sending notifications to one another. This app is useful among parents of a group of friends.

The MobileKids App

Children are now able to have access to mobile phones due to convenience for parents and children. Sadly, this accessibility also opens up a lot of possibilities wherein some can harm them. The MobileKids app protects children by allowing parents to block certain apps and contacts, while tracking mobile usage and setting hours for usage.

The year 2013 was a gigantic one for tech lovers – especially smart phone enthusiasts. The year was particularly good for Android users as it saw the market boom with cost effective mobile phones, free apps, extraordinary features and more. 2013 saw the big screens and high resolution cameras in Android phones. We also witnessed the first ever 3GB RAM smartphone.

One cannot help but wonder that what 2014 would be like for Android users. A lot is speculated. Throughout 2014 it looks like Android are going to keep tweaking KitKat and making further improvements to keep it ahead of the pack, they already pushed an update to improve the camera on Nexus 5 and the team behind it seem intent on pushing out updates quickly and efficiently.

I have talked to several experts, collected some data, did some research. 2014 is likely to see the following for Android users.

The tech glasses and other “wearable” gadgets

We see it in sci-fi movies and we all want them. Google have shown interest in introducing a wearable what they call “Glass”. Android will expand exponentially if they introduce such gadgets. Apart from smart glasses, smart watches and other tech bracelets are expected in 2014. Can’t wait? Me neither.

Bigger screens and better resolutions

What differentiates a smart phone from a regular phone? Many say it is the touch but according to a survey; it is the bigger screen size that users find most attractive. We might see a 660ppi device. As for the resolutions, things are about to get crazy! It is expected that 2K resolution would be a standard with 500 pixels per inch. With 4GB RAM, it won’t be much of a problem.

The one obvious drawback is the battery timings of course. Smartphone users of all flagships might have to deal with this a little bit. Other than the battery issue, everything looks great!

Fingerprint scanners and other censors

In 2013 we saw iPhone 5S and HTC One introducing finger scanners. It is expected that 2014 will see a lot more of finger scanners and maybe face recognition software in Android devices. Such “tweaks” will definitely add more value for money in Android.

High MP cameras

Smartphones have pretty much taken over the digital cameras. The situation will get worse for camera manufacturers as 2014 will see a marked improvement in cameras. Sensors, focal lengths, advance autofocus, editing, photography modes – everything is expected to take a hike in Android cameras in the year 2014.

64-bit Processor

Apple have already introduced the 64-bit processor with the new iPhone that was released in late 2013. Soon after the release, Samsung made it official that they would be launching 64-bit processor in early 2014. Additionally, it will be norm for the smartphones to have 4GB RAM to go with the 64-bit processing power. This is going to be huge!

More value for money

With new flagships gradually rising and high specs becoming the norm, it would ultimately benefit the users. Due to strict competition smartphone companies, even the giants will offer more value for money than they have been in 2013.

Shocking Sexting Statistics That Every Parent Should Know

Is your teen sending sexually suggestive messages or pictures? Most parents would say no, but the research suggests that our kids may be sexting at alarming rates and we as parents have no idea about it. Sexting has been brought to the media when those text messages get shared with others and then eventually online. Teens are sharing these pictures usually with a friend or boyfriend/girlfriend that they trust. Unfortunately those images are being forwarded to others and taking on a life of their own.

A sexting scandal can be harmful to a teens self-esteem and even to their future. Images shared can find their way onto the internet where they then live forever, following them around their whole lives. Every recruiter or college admissions offer could potentially access that information when reviewing an application for a job or college. Many parents can’t believe that their child is taking part in sexting, but the truth is, it’s possible that they could be. 1 in 5 teens are sexting. Here are some more shocking sexting statistics that parents can’t afford to ignore.

They Are Sending Nude Or Semi-Nude Photos To Their Girlfriends Or Boyfriends

Young love can be difficult. Part of being young is falling in and out of love. We have all been there, unfortunately most of us didn’t leave nude pictures on a cell phone as a parting gift. What happens to those nude photos your child texted to their boyfriend or girlfriend? Some may just delete them, but unfortunately if things don’t end well, those photos can be used maliciously. Did you know that 71% of teen girls and 68% of teen boys who have sent these types of photos sent them to a boyfriend or girlfriend? 21% of girls and 39% of guys sent these to someone that they wanted to “hook up with”. Teach your kids that they shouldn’t send naked or suggestive pictures to their significant others as it may not always end well.

They Feel Pressured To Take Part In Sexting

Since sexting is becoming more and more popular, teens are feeling pressure to do it. 51% of teen girls said that the pressure they receive from a boy is the reason they send those messages. 18% of teen boys do it for the same reason (pressure from girls). Just like the pressure to skip school, try drugs or alcohol, this behavior can be just as damaging. And in some cases, it can be even more damaging. If a teen tries a sip of alcohol, usually that’s it, but if they share a naked picture of themselves, it can damage their reputation for a lifetime.

They Know Those Texts Are Being Shared

What’s even more shocking than how much teens are sexting is the fact that they know that these pictures are being shared 44 Percent of both teen girls and teen boys say it is common for sexually suggestive text messages to get shared with people other than the intended recipient.

What are you doing to prevent your kids from sexting? Talk with your teens today to make sure they don’t become a statistic. You can also monitor their text messages with a parental control for iPhone or Android phone.

Life-Saving And Killer IPad Apps|IMDb’s iOS Movie Star Tracking Update

Tablets and mobiles have ushered in a new revolution in communication. You can buy stuff, email to fax an urgent document, track your friends’ or family’s location, and do so much more while sitting or on the go. Apple’s iPad and iPhone are the leading mobile devices out there, and naturally their apps outnumber apps developed for any other operating system.

Here then is a list of really killer iPad apps along with a couple that can save your life:

IMDb’s iOS Movie Star Tracking Update

IMDb has posted a super update that allows you to track lost, current or forgotten movie stars. For example, if you’re wondering about what Joaquin Phoenix or Michael Oliver (Problem Child – 1990) are doing these days, all you have to do is sign up with the service and create a list of people you are curious about using the app’s "People Lists" feature.

The app is a wee bit complicated to get started on – for example, you have to create a list and change your list’s type from the default “title” to “name of your list.” However, once you get around it, it’s simple to use. One drawback is that it does not notify you if any of your favorites start working on a new flick.

SOS My Location

If you get lost in the middle of nowhere and are clueless what to do next, use SOS My Location. The app is connected to many SOS lines, and once you activate its beacon feature, it sends out a request for help to all its pre-set SOS lines. The person in need of help then receives a link to a map that points him to the nearest help centers, along with his current location.

Emergency First Aid & Treatment Guide

This is a very simple, intuitive and easy guide to use. Just search for the emergency situation, read the instructions and apply them – that’s all there is to it. It can help you save people after they lose blood or get a heart attack and more. It also teaches you how to administer CPR.  The best thing about this app is that it works offline as well.

Talking Points

This is one cool business app that helps presenters and speakers. In fact, you can consider it as a mini teleprompter. All you have to do is write your talking points and ensure that your iPad is close to you when you speak. This is a must-have business meeting app that can make you a well-organized and meticulous speaker in the space of a few meetings.

Epicurious

Do you have a load of stuff in your refrigerator and don’t know what to cook? Download Epicurious and key in whatever you have stocked. The app will throw up interesting cooking ideas. If you don’t have the ingredients, no problem – the app also will create a shopping list!

These are a few iPad apps that can make your personal and professional life more interesting. Download them and don’t forget to leave your feedback on this page.

Dashlane For IPhone Review

The Dashlane, for iPhone, hits the paradise-like territory that lies between the lands of security and laziness. It has not been long since this app was introduced in the marketplace. It has been brought in the tech bazaar again as the Dashlane 2.0 for the iPhone. It is a password managing app that allows the phone to sync, directly, with your desktop where you can access all the confidential data that you have stored in your device.

Let’s look at what Dashlane 2.0 for iPhone is capable of doing:

Dashlane’s helping hand

One thing that Dashlane developers have mastered, with both the versions of the app, is the web browsing. This iPhone app comes packed with an in-built browser. When you are filling out an online form using this browser Dashlane auto-fills the form making use of the data that has been stored. You can trust Dashlane with top-secret data like credit card details or social security numbers. Instead of straining your mind to recall different passwords and numbers, you just have to memorize a master password. The only thing you need for accessing this information is the master password.

How Dashlane app is different?

Dashlane, with its advanced functions and usability, grabs a much higher position than the LastPass Premium app for the iPhone. Although, both these apps offer the in-built web browser and the feature of auto-filling, Dashlane is far better. The Dashlane auto-fill feature is more responsive, intuitive and functions proactively when filling out online forms.

In the latest version, the Dashlane account can be operated from within the app. With its top-end features,  Dashlane has the potential to get a person hooked to it in no time. Dashlane can be operated using various accounts. The most user-friendly and functional one is the premium account. Only when using the premium account, you can sync the phone with multiple devices and use the inbuilt browser for auto-filling online forms.

Features of Dashlane 2.0 for iPhone

Dashlane, for iPhone, eliminates complications and, very conveniently, manages the data you wish to store. With Dashlane, you can operate the whole thing, without even exiting the app. It gives you the option of performing different functions like saving new data and making changes to the old one. The pieces of information that you store in the app can be grouped together or divided into separate folders. You can name each folder. This is all you have to do. When filling out an online form that requires your credit card information, for instance, this app is going to extract the required information from the server and help you fill the form.

The browser that the Dashlane app offers resembles a lot with the browser of Safari. As compared to a similar feature presented by the LastPass app for the iPhone, the Dashlane app proves to be much better in terms of usability and functionality. Although the mobile version of this app lacks a lot when compared to its desktop counterpart, it is still a one point solution for those looking for secure storage and auto-filling.

Are Smartphones Here To Stay?

Smartphones
There are many different forms of smartphone nowadays and all of the major companies have had their say in trying to infiltrate and dominate the market. The android and the iPhone are pretty much the only two types on the market and the blackberry has now taken a firm backseat.

These providers are just so far ahead of the competition and they are in perfect competition with one another. In the internet age, access on the move is the most essential thing and these smartphones provide that as well as traditional phone functions.

I personally cannot seeing the support for these phones waning simply because of the wide variety of functions and features they have.

People are almost addicted to mobile apps and games and that is something that won’t stop because they are just getting better and better. We are in a period of technological evolution and it really doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon.

If you do a little bit of research you will see that companies are looking for ways to reduce the cost of these phones so they are much more affordable, this will only confirm the market dominance they have.

Constant Evolution

There has been a consistent and constant evolution in the smartphone world recently and that has led to so many companies having a say in the market. It is almost completely saturated and the dominant bodies, android and iPhone devices are obliterating their rivals. They are just so advanced compared to the old style phone and in recent times the stuff you can do on them at lightning speed is just incredible.

We live in the age of the internet and it is therefore essential that these devices offer that to the user an in doing so can attract such a breadth of business. So many different companies sell the phones too, they really have revolutionized marketing in many different ways. You can pick up smartphones from the local supermarket nowadays, such is the appeal of them.

The rise of web app development using platforms such as the Marmalade SDK has also been pivotal for the rise of the smartphone, so many people use smartphones for the apps they contain or you are able to download.

Easy to Make

They are really simple to make and thus the profit that can be made on each device is incredible. You wouldn’t think that these devices take mere seconds to make would you? And cost a fraction of what you pay for them? Well they do and this is why smartphones are most certainly here to stay, so long as the technology keeps evolving then the desire for them will always be there.

The Future

The future for the smartphone is bright and I have no doubt in my mind that they will be here to stay. There is just so much variety and so much demand and I really cannot see technology slowing down its development just yet.

We are just reaching the peak of our knowledge and smartphones are just the tip of the iceberg.

Here's Why Superfast Broadband Can Help You Get The Most Of Cloud Computing

Do you want to enjoy the most benefit from cloud technology? Here’s why superfast broadband can help you get the most of cloud computing.

Superfast Broadband and Cloud Computing

To understand better the connection between the two, you must know what superfast broadband and cloud computing are.  If you are clear on what each of these two technologies are, you will recognize and appreciate the role of the former in allowing you to gain the most from the latter.

Broadband connections are typically fast that they enable you to connect online instantly 24/7.  These connections also allow you to use your landline phone and your internet connection simultaneously.

Superfast connection enables you to experience the best of the cloud environment.  It lets multiple users connect online at the same time with different gadgets or machines without compromising the speed of connection.  Everyone can enjoy high-speed internet at the same time.

Meanwhile, cloud computing is a technology that enables users to share computer resources and work together as a team.  The team can access, edit, or store data and files on the cloud (or internet) using different gadgets and machines from anywhere whether they are together or individually.

Team members can work from different locations and still view the files together as necessary without having to worry about hardware and software requirements.  The technology provides all the resources and tools such as servers, applications, and data storage as well as data recovery and remote accessibility to the team.

The Role of Superfast Broadband in Cloud Computing

Broadband connections are necessary parts of the cloud computing environment.  These are what the users need to connect online and work together remotely.  It is therefore logical to say that the faster the speed of the connection, the better it is for users to collaborate even when they are working remotely.

Faster broadband connections increase the reliability of cloud computing.  It will take less time for users to upload and download files or view the files together remotely.  Users can edit, access, and transmit files without the interruptions that often happen with ordinary broadband connections.    Faster broadband makes uploading and downloading of big data files easier and more convenient for team members.

Other Benefits

Here are other benefits of a faster broadband connection in relation to cloud computing:
  • Team members can enjoy video and voice conferences without worrying about the quality and reliability.
  • Using voice over internet protocol or VoIP reduces the cost while improving communications among team members and between the business and their customers.
  • It improves customer service and engagement through faster and highly secured data transmission.
  • It reduces stress and gives the clients their peace of mind.  No need to worry about intermittent, slow, or interrupted connections.
  • A faster broadband makes cloud technology simpler, streamlined, and more cost-effective.  It enables your business to save on cost while increasing the return on your investment.
How to Distinguish Superfast Connections

Superfast connections begin with broadband that can deliver speeds of up to 30 mbps.  Know your options (e.g. fiber-optic connections) and choose your speed prudently.  Match the speed with your cloud computing needs.  Compare plans from various providers and choose the one that can meet your preferences and expectations.
