The colors play a very significant role in photography. Many people do not consider its importance and that is why their images do not have the maximum impact which should be there. The industry of photography is flourishing every day and the use of colors is also increasing. The need is to understand the types and amount of color and other things related to colors and photography. Many photographers just go with any color in any situation but it is not at all recommended as it will suppress the charm of images. The color psychology should be kept in mind by the photographers so that they can produce awesome images which grab you or stimulate your emotions. I will tell you why the colors are important and which colors you should adopt at which time.
Why colors are important?
The answer to this question is that colors have two main reasons to be important in the art of photography. The first one is
Colors affect the emotional communication:
We know that emotions paly important role when we talk about communication. The way we feel will determine the way we talk and thus shape our communication. Now what role does color plays in emotional communication? The answer is that colors have strong ability to affect our emotions. The colors will make the photo exciting, bore, dull, melancholic, lively or mysterious. People will not bother about the atmosphere or techniques with which your photo has been taken; they will just tell you that what they feel after looking at the photo. The colors are the supreme factors which stimulate different emotions of the people when they look at your photographs. Colors effect the emotions so you need to be very careful while choosing colors in your photos. You see how important colors are but still many folks do not pay attention to them. They argue that we can’t change the colors of the landscapes we are shooting as it is natural so no need to worry about color. But many experts are now telling that we can control the colors even while shooting the landscapes. You just need to be cunning in selecting the time of the day and the amount of light. The light can change the colors and so you can adjust them accordingly.
The second reason why colors are important is
Colors help in visual story telling:
You know that photography is all about the visual story telling. We tell the stories through our images. The colors help us to pay attention to the primary story and to make our gaze stay on it. For example you are shooting a scene with a person cutting the bushes and a kid is sitting at the side doing nothing. To create a focal point and to tell the story that man is cutting something you will use the bold colors for the man and will keep the rest scene in dormancy. So the brighter colors will catch the eye immediately and thus help people to know exactly what’s going on. If all the colors remain same in an image then it is hard to find the main story. And immature use of colors will ruin your image.
This is how the colors are important in photography. The choice of colors will make elegantly designed photos to canvas and you will be admired by the people.
