What Are Some Of The Challenges/Hesitations With Moving To A VOIP PhoneSystem?

Changing to a different system is often considered to be a very difficult step for a lot of businesses, but this is not always the case. Many people nowadays are considering changing to VoIP systems, which, of course, may be a challenge for some business leaders. This is especially true if there are older people in the business who may be used to a specific way of doing things, and are not very flexible.

By making sure that you take a look at all of the options when it comes to VoIP and familiarizing your staff with the whole system set-up, you will be able to ensure that the system is implemented quickly and that there are no major issues along the way. Of course, you will need to be still aware that problems can creep in any time. It is important to keep an eye out for these problems and make sure that they do not end up becoming a major issue for your company.
Problems Associated with VoIP
Familiarity breeds contempt for new technologies? One of the first problems that are often associated with this technology is that not everyone will know how to use it. Some people may believe that this is related to age but this is not always the case. There may be a lot of younger workers who are not entirely sure how this is going to work, so you will need to make sure that you provide them with a good level of training. Though vendors try hard to make the new phones and systems work as close to the old systems as possible, this may actually be restrictive in terms of providing features. For example, a VoIP phone does not need a dial tone at all. When you connect to a person, you may not even know the connection is through, till you hear a ‘hello’ from the other side. But, for familiarity and ease of use, most VoIP phone systems do simulate the dial tone and ringing feature.
Security
A lot of business leaders are concerned with the level of security that their system has. You will be surprised to find that there are still a lot of security glitches in many VoIP systems across the world. Of course, a lot of the time this is down to protocols used and programming, and it can be solved with things like encryption.
Quality
Voice and data quality can be a big issue for a lot of people as well. If you own a sizeable business, you will need to ensure that you have the highest level of quality when it comes to your company. You will need to make sure that you invest in the best equipment. Sometimes people think that VoIP quality is all down to the package that they have purchased but this is not always the case. Your connectivity, bandwidth, jitter, latency, and the protocol used all affect the quality of voice call. The equipment you have in your office including your IP Phone, router/switch, and even the cables used call all affect VoIP voice quality severely.
Costs
Costs are always a factor, even for the largest company. That is why each activity is budgeted. VoIP, fortunately does give two clear options. For companies that need to have security, have a large number of calls every day, and have a robust IT division, on-premise systems start from as low as 25 users. Installation and maintenance have also become easy with modern VoIP servers or IP PBX as they are called. For those who are not that particular, cloud based or hosted telephony do away with CAPEX, and require low OPEX for end points and devices such as IP Phones.
