This article mentions some very useful plumbing tips that can be implemented to save money on plumbing problems.Every homeowner must have some basic knowledge regarding plumbing. Plumbing problems are inevitable, you will face them one day whether you like it or not. Most of the times these plumbing problems are easy to fix, for such small issues its better to have some basic plumbing knowledge rather than to hire a professional plumber. I am not suggesting that you should try a “do it yourself” strategy on every plumbing issue, for example problems like a hidden pipe leak and a blocked sewage must be handled only by an experienced and qualified plumber. There are other easy to fix problems like a leaky faucet and a malfunctioning tap that you can handle on your own. In this article we will mention some of the tips that you can use to minimize your expenditure on plumbing services.

•    Noisy pipes:
There can be many reasons for a noisy pipe. The most common reasons are loose anchoring brackets and high water pressure. It must be noted that pipes make different noises according to different problems. If your pipe makes a rattling noise then it’s probably the high water pressure that’s causing the noise and if it’s making a banging noise then you need to put the pipe in place by using extra anchoring brackets. It’s also a good idea to use some cushioning materials if using anchoring brackets doesn’t work. This cushioning material will act as a shock absorber and will save your pipe from any physical damage that might happen because of banging.

•    Preventing frozen pipes:
Frozen pipes are a common problem in winters, especially in cold countries. It is a scientific fact that water expands on freeing. You must have studied that the volume of ice is more than the container in which it is made. The reason for this is the same, water expands when it freezes. As there is an increase in the volume, it can cause pipe bursts. It’s a good idea to locate the pipes on the inside of the building insulation as it will protect the pipes from freezing temperatures. A simple trick that you can use to prevent your pipes from freezing is to open the nearest faucet just a little. A slightly open faucet will cause a pressure drop in the pipe that will save it from bursting.

•    Know your tools:

It can help you a lot if you have some basic knowledge regarding the tools used in plumbing. It’s amazing how your confidence level will spike up once you understand the purpose and functioning of the tools used in plumbing. Internet is the best source to get educated in this regard; you can even watch some videos on YouTube to get a more complete understanding. At times, problems are not complex but you don’t have the right tools to handle them. And even if you have the tools then they are useless unless you have an understanding regarding their usage. You can save a ton of money by getting to know how to use the plumbing tools.

•    Install drain filters:

Installing the drain filters can save you a lot of money. It’s very common for drain pipes to get blocked from debris. This blockage can be easily avoided by installing drain filters.
